McHenry honors Mental Health Month

Daily Herald report

In celebrating May as Mental Health Month, the McHenry County Behavioral Health Foundation invites the community to the Visions of Hope Awards program at the Woodstock Opera House on historic Woodstock Square.

The evening will recognize a community partner that has contributed in heightening awareness of mental health issues, and an individual in recovery who has overcome challenges and is now helping others.

Join the celebration at 7 p.m. Friday, April 29, at Stage Left Cafe in the Woodstock Opera House.

Enjoy a theater performance based on real stories shared by persons who have experienced mental illness. Directed by theater arts professionals, it blends narrative, music, poetry and movement to relate personal experiences with humor and emotion.

The program is free, however, donations are welcome. Reservations are recommended. For more information, call the Mental Health Board at (815) 455-2828 or email biehl@mc708.org.
