District U-46 hosts a very special prom
Prom is one of those defining high school experiences you remember — and in some cases, regret — for years after graduation.
For the fourth year in a row, Elgin Area School District U-46 made sure students with special needs had the same opportunity to participate in that venerable high school tradition.
Thursday evening, the district held its Special Needs Prom at the Bartlett Hills Country Club.
Special needs high-schoolers from across the district enjoyed dinner and dancing in the company of friends, teachers and students who worked with them during the year.
