Burlington boys, girls champs

Burlington sweeps: Burlington Central’s boys and girls track teams each won the team championship at the Rocket Relays Thursday. The BC girls scored 184 points to second-place Hampshire’s 141, while the boys scored 157 to nose out second-place Sandwich (132). Dundee-Crown was third with 82 points.

Central’s boys won the 3,200 and 1,600 relay events and Rocket senior Tre Llanes was a triple winner, taking the 110 hurdles in 14.7, the triple jump in 43 feet, 10½ inch and the long jump in 19-11. Mike Gulik won the 400 for the Rockets in 53.32, Mike Kellenberger won the 300 hurdles in 40.27, Clint Kliem was first in the 1,600 in 4:33.6 and Kyle Ingraham won the pole vault in 11-6.

On the girls side, Central got firsts from its 400 relay team as well as Kaylee Swearingen in the 100 hurdles (17.42), Kayla Wolf in the 400 (1:01.85). Katie Trupp in the high jump (5-4), Autumn Conn in the pole vault (10-6), Brenda Thasavong in the discus (92-10) and Alli Settanni in the shot put (35-1 ½).

Hampshire’s girls won the 3,200 relay, the 1,600 relay and the 800 relay, while the Whip-Purs also gor first places from Cassie Kruse in the 800 (2:22.78) and the 1,600 (5:26.28), as well as Ashley Fouch in the 200 (26.66) and Elizabeth Sicheri in the triple jump (32-10).

Westminster Christian’s Josh Beachler won the boys’ 100 dash in 11.77.
