Schaumburg tax appeal seminar May 3

A seminar on how residents can file a property tax appeal will be held at 6:30 p.m. May 3 at Schaumburg High School, 1100 W. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg.

Attendees should bring their property tax bills to the event, which will teach residents how they can attempt to have their property assessments reduced and ultimately lower their total property tax bills. The reduction would take effect this year on the second installment of the 2010 tax bill payable in the fall of 2011.

The seminar is co-hosted by Schaumburg Township Assessor John R. Lawson, Cook County Commissioner Timothy O. Schneider, state Sen. John Millner and state Rep. Michelle Mussman, in conjunction with Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Dan Patlak.

Any questions can be directed to Lawson’s office at (847) 884-0030 or check out an informational video at schaumburgtownship.org/assessors_office.html.
