Clipboards in honor of Dundee-Crown student

Forget the iPhone. The most popular accessory at Dundee-Crown High School in Carpentersville this week is a clipboard — in honor of Christian Stilwell, who died last week.

Students have organized a fundraiser, “Clipboards for Christian,” which will benefit a scholarship in his name. The 17-year-old junior class president died Friday morning at his Algonquin home. A cause of death has not been determined.

Tyler Wong, a Dundee-Crown senior, said the Art Club and students are decorating the clipboards, many donated from organizations like Willow Creek Community Church, and will sell them for $10 during lunch through Thursday.

“He always had a clipboard with him,” Tyler said. “He was famous for it.”

A.J. Small, a 17-year-old senior, said Christian was known as “that kid with the clipboard.”

“Christian had pages of lists and ideas in his clipboard for every day,” A.J. said. “Now I see people carrying a clipboard. It's the latest trend at Dundee-Crown.”

Students are also encouraged to wear blue T-shirts throughout the week.

Visitation for Christian is set from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Willow Creek Community Church, Lakeside Auditorium, Entrance D, 67 E. Algonquin Road, South Barrington. A service will follow at 7 p.m. The burial will be private.

Donations to the Christian Stilwell Memorial Fund can be sent to 710 Hackberry Lane, Algonquin, IL 60102.
