Warren nets NSC Lake victory

Warren d. Libertyville: Dillon Schaefer and Eduardo Ciobanu had 11 and 10 kills, respectively, as the Blue Devils improved to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in the North Suburban Conference by outlasting the Wildcats 25-22, 20-25, 25-19.

Tyler Smith added 6 kills and 29 assists for Warren, while Drew Crawford chipped in 5 kills. King Gorospe registered 14 digs.

Libertyville (3-4, 1-2) received 9 kills from Bryan Bonamarte and six apiece from Brandon Leatherwood and Matt Tassler. Teddy Kopacz set 66 of 66 with 24 assists, Scott Cooper had 14 digs and Rob St. Claire served 2 aces.

Antioch d. North Chicago: Kevin Futterer and Eric Phillips each had 3 kills for the Sequoits in their 25-5, 25-11 win.

Vernon Hills d. Lake Zurich: Thomas Robinson hammered 13 kills, and Justin Opitz set 52 of 52 with 27 assists, as the Cougars won 25-22, 25-23.

Vernon Hills (10-1, 2-0 NSC) got 5 kills apiece from Mikey Kelly and Martin Niemczewski.

Chris Carmody had 5 kills for Lake Zurich (3-5, 1-1), while Coulton Every contributed 3 blocks and 3 kills.

“Lesly really has her kids playing well right now,” Vernon Hills coach Chris Curry said of his counterpart, Lesly Ravenscraft of the Bears. “They were more aggressive, more spirited and much smarter than we were all night. Plus, they served in, which we couldn’t manage to do.”

Stevenson d. Mundelein: Nik Antonijevic put down 9 kills in the Patriots’ 25-18, 25-18 win over the Mustangs in a North Suburban Conference match.

Jason Fleischman and Danny Gescheidle had 6 and 5 kills, respectively, for Stevenson (7-2, 2-0). Zachary Kravits dished out 23 assists on 37-of-37 setting.

Mundelein (5-5, 0-3) was led by Parker Tortorello’s 7 kills, while Joey Timmerman set 42 of 42 with 16 assists.
