Schaumburg recycling event

The Village of Schaumburg, Schaumburg Township Elementary School District 54 and the Schaumburg Township District Library are hosting a giant recycling event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at 524 E. Schaumburg Road, across the street from village hall. The event will include recycling of electronics, batteries, holiday lights, CFL bulbs, motor oil, bikes and eyeglasses, as well as document shredding. Among the items that will be accepted are televisions, household batteries, small household appliances, microwaves, monitors, computers, keyboards, mice, radios, videocassette recorders, telephones and fax machines. The Working Bikes Cooperative is accepting bikes, wheelchairs and sewing machines for use in other countries. The Lions Club is accepting used eyeglasses for other countries, and Ellsworth Meineke American Legion Post 1983 is accepting American Flags.
