“Annie” is a spunky Depression-era orphan determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City orphanage run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations, befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and finds a new family and home in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
This is the fourth production for the Elgin Summer Theatre after a 12-year hiatus. Other productions have included "Hair," "Grease" and last summer's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." Sponsored by the City of Elgin, EST is a showcase for local talent in all age ranges.
Performances for "Annie" will be at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, July 15-23, and 3 p.m. Sundays, July 17 and 24.
Tickets are $15. Discounts are available for groups of 20 or more. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Hemmens box office, online at www.hemmens.org, or charge by phone at (847) 931-5900.
