CL South 2-1 in Rockford: Crystal Lake South beat Marian Central and Rockford Christian by identical 17-0 scores then lost to Zion-Benton 2-1 on a walk off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning at the Rockford East tournament. Against Marian Central, Liz Adams and Shannon McGinnis had doubles for the Gators and Hannah Mahoney belted a home run. Sam Golf had 3 RBI, Jamie Beelow drove in 2 runs and Mahoney had 3 RBI. Golf was the winning pitcher, allowing just 1 hit with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk.
Golf had a double, triple and 6 RBI against Rockford Christian, while McGinnis had a double and 3 RBI and Tori Stevenson had a double. Rachel Leif also tripled for CL South and was the winning pitcher, allowing 1 hit with 10 strikeouts.
Mahoney suffered the loss in the circle and drove in the only run for the Gators (4-1) in their loss to Zion-Benton.
DeKalb 13, Hampshire 0: DeKalb freshman Katie Kowalski threw a no-hitter at the Whip-Purs (1-3) Saturday. Jen Hurst was Hampshire’s losing pitcher.
Bartlett loses 2: The Hawks struggled at home against Wheaton North, falling 8-1 and 12-3 to the Falcons in nonconference play. Amanda Montbriand had a double for Bartlett in Game 1. Tori Burke and Alicia Salata were Bartlett’s losing pitchers.
College softball
Judson splits: Sam Gladen threw a no-hitter to lead Judson to an 8-0 win over St. Francis of Indiana at the St. Francis (Ill.) tournament. Katie Talbot suffered the loss in the Eagles’ second game of the day, a 3-2 loss to Harris-Stowe. Judson is now 16-8 on the season.
