Ondik, Monroe ready for Showdown

Naperville Central senior Emma Ondik and West Chicago junior Claire Monroe both advanced to the finals of the Class 4A 3-point Showdown at Illinois State University’s Redbird Arena.

In Thursday’s preliminary round Ondik hit 10 3s, second only to the 12 hit by Marian Catholic’s Jasmine Matthews. Monroe hit 8, then beat out Naperville North’s Emily Carpenter in a tiebreaking shootout.

Ondik, Monroe, Matthews and Moline’s Sanela Causevic will shoot the final round tonight at about 8 p.m., in between the Class 4A semifinal games.
