Dist. 300 gets leadership team
Community Unit District 300 Superintendent-elect Michael Bregy announced members of his new cabinet that will help him lead the district.
Bregy, who takes over as superintendent in July, tapped current District 300 educators to assist in shifting the district's focus to teaching and learning.
“We are moving resources to where we feel would bring the most strength for the entire school system,” Bregy said in introducing four assistant superintendents for teaching and learning.
The leadership team includes three school principals and one associate principal who will fill three grade-level associate superintendent for teaching and learning positions, as well as the associate superintendent for teaching and learning for education services.
Kristin Corriveau, principal at Liberty Elementary School, will take on the role at the elementary/preschool level; Dundee Middle School Principal Kara Vicente was named associate superintendent for teaching and learning for middle schools; and Ben Churchill, associate principal for curriculum and instruction at Dundee-Crown High School, will take on the high school leadership role. Jacobs High School Principal Shelley Nacke was named assistant superintendent for teaching and learning for educational services, which will include special education, nursing and homeless students.
The new leaders will officially take their positions in the Central Office in July.
“The selection committee not only looked for the best and brightest educational leaders in (Dist. 300), but for those who could work very well together as a team,” Bregy said. “Their ability to collaborate will be crucial to our school district's renewed focus on teaching and learning. I foresee tremendous progress for our students through their expertise and leadership.”
Previously, Sarah Kedroski was named associate superintendent, a promotion from her current role as associate superintendent of operations. Kedroski will become the district's second in command.
