Pops Concert set for Feb. 27

The McHenry County Youth Orchestras will present their Pops Concert “Music in Time” at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, at the Raue Center for the Arts, 26 N. Williams St. in Crystal Lake.
The Intermezzo and Symphony orchestras will be performing at the Pops concert, and are conducted by music Director Russell Vinick. The Intermezzo Orchestra will be playing an arrangement from “Rites of Tamburo,” an energetic piece composed by Robert W. Smith (a living composer), along with a few other selections of music, including “Clarinet Candy” featuring MCYO’s 2006 Concerto winner, Michael Engels on clarinet. Engels graduated in June 2010 from Wesleyan University with a degree in music. The Symphony Orchestra will be performing pieces by Mozart, Bernsteins’s “Candide” Overture, “Night on Bald Mountain” by Mussorgsky and more.
