World traveler to speak at Schaumburg library
The Schaumburg Township District Library hopes to help pull residents through the worst winter has left to offer with upcoming programs on health, money and travel.
World traveler Bill Helmuth will take an audience on a virtual tour of Lebanon from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21 in the Rasmussen South Room of the central library at 130 S. Roselle Road in Schaumburg. Helmuth will return to highlight Syria from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28.
College and high school students — and their parents — are invited to a college major and career planning seminar from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22 in the Rasumussen South Room.
Since February is American Heart Month, the library is celebrating with “Lifestyles for a Healthy Heart” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23 at the Hoffman Estates Branch, 1550 Hassell Road in Hoffman Estates. Dr. Mohammed Alahdab of the Alexian Brothers Hospital Network will provide a practical seminar on living in a way that keeps your heart strong and healthy. To register for the free program, call (866) 253-9426.
Members of the Schaumburg Area Photographic Society will share tips on taking great photos from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23 in the Rasumussen South Room. Attendees should bring their own cameras for maximum benefit.
Though a useful tool, even the Internet has its limits when it comes to finding information. Learn how to go beyond the Internet at “You Can’t Google This!” at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28 in the Adult Classroom of the central library. You’ll learn how to find such things as car repair manuals, ratings from Consumer Reports and practice certification tests.
All these programs are free. You can register for all of them except the “Healthy Heart” presentation by calling (847) 923-3347 or visiting the library’s Information/Magazines Desk on the second floor of the central library.
