St. Edward’s Galati advances to state

St. Edward sophomore Dean Galati finished second overall Saturday at the IHSA Sycamore boys bowling sectional to advance to next weekend’s state final tournament in O’Fallon.

Galati rolled a 6-game series of 1,337, just 15 pins off the 1,352 rolled by champion David McManus of Spring Valley Hall.

Westminster Christian’s Christian Benson (1.237) and South Elgin’s Mitch Brown (1.231) are still in contention for at-large spots at state.

At the Lake Park sectional, Bartlett junior Marcus Angus (1,283) and Streamwood senior Steven Welch (1,247) each advanced to state by finishing third and fourth, respectively. Lake Park’s Zach Taiodras was the sectional champ with a 1,409.

Bartlett rolled a 5,883 as a team but missed out on one of the two team qualifying spots, which went to Lake Park (6.376) and St. Patrick (6, 052). Junior Dan Wozniak (1,215) and senior Charlie Struck (1,188) reach remain on the potential at-large list for the Hawks.
