Nice turnaround for Maine West; St. Viator wins

Maine West pulled off a numerical reversal Saturday night when it hosted Northside Prep in a nonconference boys basketball game.

One night after the Warriors scored just 26 points in a loss, they romped to a 62-22 victory at Rider Gym in Des Plaines.

Odera Eneogwe scored all of his game-high 19 points in the first three quarters and outscored the entire Northside team by 5 points in that span. Conor Hart scored all 15 of his points in the first 24 minutes.

Eneogwe was 8-for-14 from the field and Hart was 5-for-6 as the Warriors (10-6) shot 62.5 percent from the field (25-for-40). They also surpassed their win total of last season.

St. Viator 47, Northridge Prep 37: Kevin Walsh scored a game-high 16 points and D.J. Morris added 13 points for St. Viator (11-4) in the nonconference win in Niles.

Walsh hit two 3s and was 6-for-6 at the free-throw line as the Lions made all 8 of their attempts. Morris hit three 3s.

"I thought our defense was good most of the night," Viator coach Joe Majkowski said after allowing Northridge only 21 points the first three quarters. "They packed in a zone on us, but we were patient enough to be effective."

Viator faces unbeaten Benet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Lisle.
