No injuries as fire ravages Naperville house
No injuries were reported Friday in an intense fire that caused more than $300,000 damage to a Naperville house.
Authorities said 36 Naperville and Bolingbrook firefighters battled the blaze for about an hour at 603 Heritage Court before bringing it under control.
City building inspectors have declared the house uninhabitable and the family temporarily is residing with friends in the area.
Firefighters said the blaze was reported at 8:33 a.m. and the first crews on the scene found the fire in the basement and kitchen of the large, two-story frame dwelling.
Firefighters entered the home to search for possible victims and to begin extinguishing the flames. They found the fire had extended into the spaces between the walls and floors and had moved into the second floor and attic.
Once they brought the fire under control, authorities said crews remained on the scene for several hours to overhaul the building and help the residents with personal issues.
The fire department's investigation team and Naperville police are probing the cause and origin of the fire, officials said.
Firefighters from Plainfield, North Aurora, Wheaton, Warrenville and Lisle-Woodridge helped staff some of the city's fire stations.
