Schaumburg Twp. Disability Services hosts party

Santa Claus made his annual appearance at Schaumburg Township's Disability Services annual holiday party for children with disabilities and their families on Saturday, Dec. 4. This year's holiday event was sponsored by Bolger Realty, Village Tavern & Grill, B & A Plumbing, Carpenters Union Local 839, The Schaumburg-Hoffman Lions Club and Sunshine Gutter Co.

Mascots “Bearon” the Bear from The Schaumburg Flyers, “Skates” from The Chicago Wolves and “Sarge” from The Chicago Slaughters entertained the children while they ate chicken fingers and mostaccioli from Village Tavern and Grill, pasta salad from Pilot Pete's and ice cream from Culver's of Schaumburg.

Those Funny Little People Christmas Elves interacted with audience members as they performed a “mini-musical” of dance and holiday music. Santa Claus arrived and handed out gifts for all the children, which was especially selected for each child according to their ability.

This year, Schaumburg Township received a Governor's Hometown Award for the children with disabilities holiday party, recognizing the townships' volunteer program for this event. Without the volunteers, this wonderful event would not be possible.
