Scouting Addison Trail girls basketball

Addison Trail

Coach: Rob Schader.

Last year: 13-16, 7-5, tied for fourth in the West Suburban Gold; lost in the regional semifinals.

Top players: Jazmin Little, sr., G; Marissa Pezzopane, jr. F/C; Jamie Smolinski, sr., F/C; Meshaundra Donald, sr., F/C; Kayla Foster, sr., G; Jo Dinatale, jr. G.

Scouting report: The Blazers have steadily improved during Schader’s first four seasons as coach, and he thinks his fifth could be the year they finish above the .500 mark for the first time. It would be a long way from the two-win season his first year, but then a lot of things have changed. The school’s facilities are vastly improved, and Schader already is seeing the benefits. The Blazers again will rely on Little and Pezzopane for the bulk of their scoring. Both have started since they were freshmen. Little and Dinatale will provide the outside punch, with Pezzopane partnering with Donald and Smolinski down low. But the key area they need to improve is the other end of the court. “Honestly, our defense was not very good last year. Are we going to be able to play better defense?” Schader asked.
