Afternoon fire delays Metra trains

Two Metra trains were delayed this afternoon as firefighters responded to a small fire alongside the track, officials said.

The fire, near the Irving Park station, delayed trains on the Union Pacific Northwest line about 1:30 this afternoon, a Metra spokesman said.

Train No. 644 and No. 619 were stopped for about 15 minutes as a precaution, officials said.

No one was injured during the fire.
