Scouting Glenbard East boys basketball

Glenbard East

Coach: Scott Miller.

Last year: 27-2, 14-0, first in DuPage Valley Conference; lost 68-54 to Benet in Class 4A Neuqua Valley sectional final.

Top players: Zach Miller, sr., G; Johnny Hill, sr., F; Kevin Priebe, sr., F; Steve Kinney, sr., F; Tyree York, sr., G; Dante Bailey, jr., F; Marvin Grant-Clark, so., F; Pat Walsh, jr., G; Kendall Bridges, sr., G; Cody Kitahata, sr., C; Bryant Westbrook, jr., C.

Scouting report: The defending DVC champions are poised to vie for a trip to Peoria. Miller, an NIU recruit and last year's DVC player of the year, and Illinois State-bound Hill are the two reasons why. Hill, at 6-foot-3, averaged 17 points, 6 rebounds and an area-leading 3.3 steals. Miller, a fourth-year varsity point guard, led the county with 7.2 assists while averaging 14 points. The key to success will be the emergence of players stepping in for three talented graduated starters. York is much improved and explosive while, at 6-6, Bailey is the team's top shooter and has Division I college potential. Grant-Clark should make an immediate impact. "We have the potential to be better than last year," Miller said.
