Campanelli YMCA Receives $5,000 Grant from J.C. Penney

A $5,000 grant from J.C. Penney Afterschool will allow the Campanelli YMCA the opportunity to help more children and teens participate in life-enriching afterschool programs this school year.

The gift is designed to help Ys provide financial assistance to students (grades K-12) who otherwise could not afford to participate in afterschool programs.

“J.C. Penney is firmly committed to supporting youth-serving organizations, like the Y, that are dedicated to providing positive, meaningful programs during the crucial hours of 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., when studies show that a quarter of America's children are unsupervised after school,” said Jodi Gibson, community relations director for J.C. Penney and president of the J.C. Penney Afterschool Fund.

In the Schaumburg area, the Y serves more than 300 children in nine Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54 schools and at the Y, 300 W. Wise Road, Schaumburg.
