Schaumburg District 54 sets $152.7 million levy

The Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54 school board Thursday approved a resolution estimating its 2010 tax levy at $152.7 million, exclusive of debt service.

A public hearing will be held on the estimated levy at 7 p.m. Dec. 2 in the boardroom of the district office, 524 E. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg.

Because of state tax cap regulations, the most existing property owners will pay is 2.7 percent more in property taxes than they did last year. However, the increase could be less. School districts also receive additional property taxes from new construction.

Last year's growth from new construction was 0.22 percent of the prior year's equalized assessed value in District 54.
