Catch Wheeling's Chin on Big Ten Network

While playing volleyball for the University of Minnesota, former Wheeling standout Krista Chin made a few television appearances when her Gophers appeared on ESPN and the Big Ten Network.

Now, Chin finds herself on the other end of the spectrum as she will be the one talking about the Minnesota volleyball team.

This Sunday, Chin will be providing the bigtennetwork.com with color commentary for the match between Minnesota and Wisconsin.

It will be broadcast the next day on the website.

It is a new adventure for Chin, who is also blogging on gophersports.com for the Minnesota volleyball team.

“In order to prepare, I'll have to do some research on the Badgers to find out more information about their starting lineup, top recruits and leaders, said Chin, a multiple all-area selection when she played at Wheeling. “I will probably do minimal research for Minnesota since I already know the team and the coaches really well.

Chin is looking forward to her assignment.

“I am really excited to know I'll be broadcasting a match, and I never thought I would be offered such a great opportunity, she said. “I've played and watched a lot of volleyball so I think I'll bring a unique aspect to the table and provide some more in depth analysis for the viewers.

Chin, residing in Minniapolis, has kept busy officiating volleyball matches at the Division III and high school level.

She is still working toward becoming a physician's assistant.

“But I'm willing to keep my options open if this opportunity (with bigtennetwork.com) were to turn into something greater, she said. “It will be a great feeling to get back in the gym and have the volleyball crowd surrounding me again.
