Huntley wins Silver at Autumnfest

After beating Willowbrook but losing to Prairie Ridge on Friday, the Huntley girls volleyball team stormed to 3 wins Saturday at Glenbard East's Autumnfest tournament and won the Silver Division championship.

The Red Raiders (28-4) knocked off Waubonsie Valley 25-16. 25-19 in the division championship match, after beating West Aurora 25-16, 25-10 and Crystal Lake South 25-16, 25-23 earlier in the day.

Ashley Smith made the all-tournament team for Huntley after finishing with 16 kills in Saturday's action. Sam Boesch added 17 kills and 19 digs Saturday, while Kadie Lowery had 9 kills. Amy Dion had 31 digs for the Red Raiders and Eli Manning 28 assists.

CL South at Autumnfest: The Gators (17-16) beat Mount Pulaski and Loyola Academy but lost to Mother McAuley, Huntley and Glenbard West at Autumnfest. Hannah Burkle led the Gators with 33 kills and Maureen Johnson had 28. Katie Meyers contributed 43 digs.

Elgin Invite: South Elgin took second at the Elgin Invitational, beating Rolling Meadows, Highland Park, Dundee-Crown and Elgin while losing only to Leyden. Leaders for the Storm were Courtney Sanocki (67 assists), Maggie Jakaitis (21 assists, 11 aces), Katelyn Stonecipher (50 digs, 7 aces), Laura Balance (23 kills, 13 aces), Ashley Oandasan (30 kills) and Erica Williams (7 aces, 26 digs).

Dundee-Crown went 2-3 in the tournament, beating Highland Park and Elgin while losing to South Elgin, Leyden and Rolling Meadows. Alexa Shemanske had 21 kills for the Chargers (4-25), while Rebekah Hischke had 20, Alexis Holm 16 and Lauren Mosher 14. Rebecca Wika had 33 assists and the D-C defense was led by Carlin Faulkner (44 digs), Holm (46), Tanna Svec (25), Wika (26) and Cassie Sommers (20).
