Mussman not typical career politician
I would like to thank the Schaumburg Business Association for sponsoring a candidate forum and making the video available online.
Regarding the 56th District House race, it was interesting to learn both candidates share similar views on many issues both oppose an income tax increase, both want to spur job growth and both said the problem with Springfield is career politicians.
Where they differ is life experience and motivation for running. Michelle Mussman told us she put her career on hold to raise her children; she serves as a community volunteer; she manages her one-income family budget and she and her husband have owned a home in the area for more than 15 years.
Ryan Higgins told us he is an East Coast-educated corporate health care lawyer; he was a member of several political groups in college and law school; he doesn't own a home because he has student loans; and until recently, he hadn't lived in the area because he was away at school or living in Chicago.
Ryan Higgins has what many would regard as the typical politician bloodline a corporate attorney with an eye toward an office higher than that of state representative.
We don't need another typical politician. I want a state representative who is committed to our community and interested in helping our families, not someone looking to start a political career.
Michelle Mussman is a smart, dedicated woman motivated by a desire to help our community.
