Scouting Barrington at Hoffman Estates
Barrington (6-0, 2-0) at Hoffman Estates (0-6, 0-2)
When: 7:30 p.m. today at Dennis Garber Stadium
Last week: Barrington d. Schaumburg 34-32; Hoffman lost to Fremd 30-0
Outlook: No letdown. That's Barrington's goal as it continues its drive for an MSL West title after being picked to finish fourth in the preseason. "They're a very underrated group defensively," Barrington coach Joe Sanchez said of Hoffman. "I told our guys we're going to have to get after it - and don't you dare fall into a trap." Sanchez said it would be a game-time decision if RB Chase Murdock would return after missing last week with a foot injury but he hopes to have LB Alex Jirschele back from injury this week. Hoffman will get Mike DeNight (hamstring) and David Allen (concussion) back this week and coach Bill Helzer also hopes to get RB Michael Reeves more involved offensively even though he's been the target of defenses. "We can't sustain any positive momentum," Helzer said. "Defensively I thought we did a really nice job last week but in the second half it came down to a field-position thing." Barrington has won eight of nine in a series it leads 18-3.
