Scouting Leyden at Willowbrook

Leyden (2-3, 1-2) at Willowbrook (1-4, 0-1)

Last week: Leyden d. Morton 26-15; Willowbrook lost to Downers Grove South 42-0

Outlook: The Eagles' relatively consistent defense played its part again last week to give their offense a chance to finally get rolling. Senior SS Steve Travis capped their comeback with an interception return for a TD and senior LB Diego Moreno continued to thrive in his move from the outside to the inside with 20 tackles and 3 sacks. "They've played well and kept us in games," said Leyden coach Tom Cerasani, "and we've put them in some bad positions with special teams and turnovers." Junior QB Joe DiFronzo rebounded from throwing 3 INTs to throw for 231 yards and 3 TDs but Cerasani would still like to see some improvement in the running game. Willowbrook's only win was 21-0 two weeks ago over winless Proviso East and it lost to Morton. "I told the kids we need this game," Cerasani said. "We can't go anywhere without winning this game first."
