Photo exhibit comes to Judson College

Judson University is hosting a talk on an upcoming photography exhibit inspired by the French poet Charles Baudelaire.

"A Reasonable Facsimile," on display during October, includes the work of 12 photographers from across the country: Conor King, Lindsay Borden, Sarah Christianson, Yasmin Etemadi, Sarah Baron, Sarah Stacke, Salma Khalil, Rachel Loischild, Jason Flack, Carl Sweets, Brett Kallusky and Michelle Westmark.

The work was created as part of a "photo conversation" initiated by Westmark. She started the chain by sending the first artist a 4-inch-by-6-inch postcard of her image. Each artist had two weeks to respond photographically to the postcard he or she received in the mail.

Westmark will talk about the inspiration and concept behind the project from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8 in the Draewell Gallery. The gallery is in the Harm A. Weber Academic Center, 1151 N. State St.

"A Reasonable Fascimile" will be at the Draewell Gallery today, Oct. 1, through Oct. 29.

Alumni plans for Elgin homecoming: One of the best parts of homecoming is reconnecting with alumni from your graduating class and meeting people from other classes who attended your school.

Elgin High School is hoping to facilitate that experience this weekend, as the school's homecoming celebrations begin with Sunday's Disney-themed parade through downtown Elgin.

The school is inviting alumni, as well as family and friends, to watch the parade, which begins at 1 p.m. at Festival Park and ends at the same place. The park will host homecoming-related activities after the parade ends.

Alumni who are 21 and older are invited to The Hangout (formerly Mad Maggie's) on South Grove Avenue after the parade.

An alumni tent will be set up behind the scoreboard starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, during the sophomore football game. The varsity game against Batavia High School starts at 7:30 p.m.

After the game, alumni (21 and older) can stop by the Elgin Public House, 219 E. Chicago St. for a postgame celebration.
