Car wash for Special Olympics

Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54 Special Olympics will hold its annual car wash fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18 at Nathan Hale Elementary School, 1300 W. Wise Road in Schaumburg.

Money raised will be used for programming for the 2010-2011 school year. Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children with intellectual disabilities by giving them opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
