Stillman stops Wauconda
Stillman Valley 46, Wauconda 20: Facing the defending Class 3A state champions on their home field figured to be a challenge for the Bulldogs.
What they couldn't afford was mistakes, and that's what the visitors committed.
"We had 3 big turnovers that cost us (in the first half)," Wauconda coach Dave Mills said. "But (Stillman Valley) put it to us."
Wauconda wide receiver Jake Ziolkowski caught 5 passes, including three for touchdowns. Brian Kent threw all 3 TDs but also was intercepted twice.
Stillman Valley fullback Adam Cox had a huge night, with Mills guessing the veteran rushed for more than 250 yards.
Wauconda (1-1) trailed 31-7 at halftime.
"It wasn't pretty," Mills said.
