Jacobs High working with beating victim
Jacobs High School is working to maintain a safe learning environment for the victim of an alleged attack that took place outside school property on Monday, a Community Unit District 300 spokeswoman said.
"The school is working with the victim's family very actively ... to help the student feel safe in the school environment," district spokeswoman Allison Strupeck said. "Even if it doesn't take place on school grounds, the district takes this incident very seriously."
According to authorities, the girl said she was attacked by another female student around 4:30 p.m. Monday at Burr Oak Lane and Hollowside Drive, near West Dundee. The assailant tore the girl's hair out, slammed her head on the ground and kicked her in the stomach, police have said. The girl has not been charged.
"It's still an ongoing investigation," Kane County Sheriff's Lt. Pat Gengler said. "We know who it is. It's just a matter of getting all the facts."
Strupeck said aside from possible charges, there could be school-related consequences for the alleged attacker but that a decision on school-related punishment will not come until after police complete their investigation.
