Pomegranate-Pineapple Simple Syrup

16 ounces pomegranate juice31/2 cups sugar6 whole cloves6 ounces dried pineappleIn a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil, then remove from the heat and let cool. Transfer to an airtight jar, cover and let sit overnight.Use a mesh strainer to strain the syrup, discarding any solids. Return the syrup to the jar and refrigerate for up to 2 months.Makes 4 cups.Associated Press
