St. Edward Tidal Wave auction nets $154,000

St. Edward Central Catholic High School in Elgin recently announced that the 21st annual Tidal Wave auction dinner/dance raised more than $154,000.

This gala event, with the theme, "21st Century Gold Rush," was held on April 17 at the Stonegate Centre in Hoffman Estates with Rev. David A. Peck, superintendent and principal, welcoming a record 429 attendees.

This year's honorees were honorary chairs Tom and Sue Rakow; Alumnus of the Year Dennis Ward, Class of 1966; Patron of the Year Ralph Tovar and John Tovar, Class of 1968, of Profile Graphics.

The Loyal Order of St. Edward Award was presented to the dedicated ladies of the St. Edward High School cafeteria staff - Rosemary Knott, Donna Sanders, and Joanne Spizziri.

Proceeds will be applied toward the installation of a wireless network throughout the school, laptop computers for all classrooms, cafeteria equipment, operating expenses and scholarships for needy students.
