Wilkes throws no-hitter as Glenbard S. finishes undefeated in WSC
Glenbard South 3, Yorkville 0: Jess Wilkes (21-2) fired a no-hitter, striking out six, and also slugged her sixth homer as the Raiders (29-3, 14-0 Western Sun Conference) wrapped up an unbeaten conference season.
Naperville North 6-9, Glenbard West 5-0: Caitlyn Warren's two-out double in the bottom of the ninth scored Steph Tobin with the game-winner in the opener. Lauren Clouston's RBI single in the bottom of the eighth had tied the game after Glenbard West took a 5-4 lead in the top of the inning on a Rachel Hitzeman RBI single. A 6-run fifth broke things open for Naperville North (19-13) in the second game.
Downers Grove South 6, Belleville East 0: Katie Talbot (20-2) struck out nine for the Mustangs at the Stone City Jamboree. Marissa Mersch went 3-for-4 with an RBI and stolen base, Michelle Lisy 3-for-4 with a double and run scored, Katy LaCivita 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and 2 runs scored and Jenny Nichols 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI for Downers Grove South (26-6).
Montini 4, St. Ignatius 1: Tori Shipbaugh doubled twice, drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Broncos (20-15) in a game played at UIC. Lara Mangialardi (20-10) struck out four for Montini, which won 16 of its last 20 regular-season games.
Wheaton Academy 8-9, Aurora Christian 0-3: Olivia Tilly, Ashley Pivaronas, Julia Kolanowski and Bekah Huebner all homered for the host Warriors in Game 1. Kim Olson went deep for Wheaton Academy (14-14, 6-10 Suburban Christian Conference Gold) in the second game. Paige Huizenga (12-11) got the win in both games.
Glenbard East 2-5, Elmwood Park 1-10: Freshman Kara Tadda scattered 9 hits, striking out four, for the Rams in the first game of a doubleheader in Lombard. Kelly Cotterill went 2-for-3. Michaela Stranski and Michele Graham homered for Glenbard East in Game 2.
