Elgin Academy second at Lake Forest: The Hilltoppers notched 2 victories Saturday to secure second place at the Lake Forest Academy girls soccer tournament. Elgin Academy (15-7-1) defeated Maine East 5-0 and dispatched North Chicago 7-0.
Senior Lauren Steimle scored a hat trick against Maine East and added 2 more goals against North Chicago. Ashley Barnes scored 2 goals and had an assist in each match, Emma Stone scored 2 goals and added an assist against North Chicago and goalkeeper Alyssa Pena stopped all 24 shots she faced.
Burlington Central 0, Kaneland 0: Neither team could find the back of the net in what turned out to be the championship match of the Kaneland tournament. Kaneland was awarded the tourney title based on more total wins. Caitlin Solberg had 2 saves in goal for Central (12-3-5).
Streamwood at Kaneland tournament: Sara Kemp scored off an assist from Steph Brown for Streamwood's only goal in a 9-1 loss to Sycamore. Bri Roppo made 7 saves in goal for Streamwood. The Sabres then came back with an 8-0 win over the Kaneland JV team. Amy Tyszkiewicz scored a hat trick for Streamwood in that win.
