Elgin scored twice in the top of the seventh inning to tie the Upstate Eight Conference game 9-9, but Streamwood's Nate Pearson ripped a double to left-center in the bottom of the seventh to score Patrick Manning from first base with the winning run in a 10-9 victory. Pearson (4-for-5), who also earned the win with an inning of relief, homered and drove in 2 runs. Senior Mike Diebold was 3-for-4 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI and Tim Cohen was 2-for-3 with a home run for Streamwood (15-9, 9-6), which won its second straight. For Elgin (4-17, 3-12), Javier Cárdenas and Alex Doty each went 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI, Zack Frerichs had 2 hits and drove in 2 runs and Jake Meyer doubled and had 2 RBI. Meyer (0-5) took the loss for the Maroons.
Lake Park 6, South Elgin 4: At South Elgin, the Lancers clinched an Upstate Eight Conference series victory by winning a second straight close game against the Storm (15-6, 10-5). Nathan Halas went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI for the Storm, and Kenny Lowden took the loss after allowing 4 earned runs in 6 innings.
Bartlett 12, Larkin 3: Junior Ryan Yore went 4-for-5 with a double, 2 steals, 2 runs and an RBI, and junior Joey Miceli (2-for-3) tripled and drove in 3 runs as the Hawks won for the fourth time in 5 Upstate Eight games. Matt DiCianni (3-4) earned the win after allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits in 5 innings.
St. Francis 3, Hampshire 1: Freshman Shane Hernandez (2-1) pitched a complete-game, allowing only 1 run on 6 hits, but the Whip-Purs (12-11) were held to 2 hits in a nonconference game in Wheaton.
St. Edward 25, North Boone 14: Senior David Hoebbel went 4-for-4, including 3 home runs and 9 RBI, to lead a 24-hit attack by the Green Wave (12-14) in a nonconference win. Other hitting stars for St. Edward included Zach Von Ahnen (HR, 2 RBI), Derek Porto (4-for-4, 2 RBI, 4 runs), John Godfrey (3-for-5, 2 RBI) and Luke Duffy (3-for-5, 2 RBI).
Jacobs 23, Westminster Christian 12: The Golden Eagles scored 5 runs or more in four separate innings to roll to a nonconference win in Algonquin. Jacobs senior Ben Albano (4-for-4) hit 3 more home runs to tie Burlington Central's Austin Jarvis for the area lead with 11. Albano, who drove in 9 runs, has 5 home runs in his last two games. Matt Schmidt (2-2) earned the win on the mound and hit a home run, and Brett Kale also homered for Jacobs (12-10-1).
Joe McGannon (2 RBI) and Frank Oliver (4-for-4, 5 RBI) hit home runs for Westminster Christian (16-8).
