Third candidate to run in 56th District race

Marilyn Siegfried of Schaumburg has announced her intention to begin circulating petitions to run as an independent for the 56th District House seat currently held by Schaumburg Democrat Paul Froehlich.

The 69-year-old Siegfried, who's never sought elected office before, said she's a registered Republican who has continued to support Froehlich before and after his switch to the Democratic party. Already on the ballot are two other candidates from Schaumburg who've never sought elected office before - 28-year-old Republican Ryan Higgins and 37-year-old Democrat Michelle Mussman.

The 56th District includes Schaumburg and parts of Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Hanover Park, Roselle and Bloomingdale.
