Alcohol awareness forum at Ellis:In observance of Alcohol Awareness Month in April, residents are invited to attend Renz Addiction Counseling Center's Parent Awareness Forum from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 29 at Ellis Middle School, 225 S. Liberty Street, Elgin. Attendees will hear representatives from the Elgin Police Department, the Illinois Alcohol Drug Dependence Association, and Linden Oaks at Edward as they discuss what can be done to keep drugs and alcohol out of children's lives; how to prevent adolescent depression and self-injury; and how to protect families from violent youths. A question and answer forum will follow the presentations. The program allows each member of the Illinois General Assembly to award scholarships to nine Illinois public universities to students in the 22nd Senate District who have been active in public and civic affairs, demonstrated academic achievement or are in need of assistance.
