Mundelein tops Warren, stays perfect
Mundelein's boys volleyball team remained undefeated Wednesday night, as the Mustangs defeated Warren 25-19, 25-20.
Patrick Lentz and Mitchell Baumgartner each pounded 7 kills for Mundelein (7-0). Lentz also had 4 blocks and served 9 of 9 with an ace.
Chris Kelly added 12 digs, and Andrew Roscoe was 41-of-41 setting with 14 assists.
Lake Zurich d. Lakes: Chris Carmody slammed 7 kills on 19-of-24 hitting, and Dalton Grambo recorded 5 blocks, as the Bears won 25-19, 25-22.
Lake Zurich (1-2) also received strong efforts from Tim Riendeau (55-of-56 setting, 7-of-8 serving with 3 aces, 4 kills), Kyle Miller (12-of-12 serving, 1 ace) and Tom Doherty (8 digs).
Lakes was led by John Sieracke (7 kills) and Mark Molloy (14 assists, 11 digs).
Vernon Hills d. Antioch: Garrett Kubacki and Ryan Steeno were both 9-of-9 hitting with 7 kills to lead the Cougars to a 25-14, 25-16 victory.
David Swanson added 6 kills for Vernon Hills (6-1). Spencer Raak was 12-of-14 serving with 2 aces and added 5 digs. Justin Opitz set 38 of 38 with 22 assists.
Zion-Benton d. Libertyville: The Zee-Bees rallied to win the North Suburban opener 18-25, 25-7, 25-18.
Libertyville fell to 0-2, 0-1.
