Fundraiser for Cary student: A fundraiser will be held for Cary Junior High student Luke Kaspari, who has acute lymphoblastic leukemia, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, March 25, at Nick's Pizza and Pub, 856 Pyott Road, Crystal Lake. There will be a donation box where you can donate directly to the Kaspari family. In addition, Nick's Pizza will be donating 15 percent of the sales from the evening to the family of the eighth-grader. Those interested in attending can print a flyer at lukekasparifundraiser.blogspot.com to present with your dine-in or carryout order. Direct donations also are being accepted at Harris Bank in Cary under the name Luke Kaspari.Census help offered: Silvia Ceja of Elgin's Centro de Informacion will be on site to help assist residents with questions on their U.S. Census forms from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 27, at McDonald's, 401 Summit St., Elgin. Information will be available for Spanish-speaking and new immigrants. Elgin's immigrant community is encouraged to participate in the 2010 Census by completing and returning the census forms received in the mail. By law, the Census Bureau cannot share census answers with anyone, including federal, state and local agencies, or immigration agencies.Apply for McHenry committee:The McHenry County Board of Health is accepting applications for the McHenry County Environmental Health Advisory Committee. The new committee will advise the board of health on environmental health issues in the county. The panel will have nine to 12 members who will each be appointed to a two-year term. Members will not be paid and will probably meet four times a year. Applications are due Friday, April 9. Applications are available at the county department of health, 2200 N.
