Algonquin files suit against AMCORE: The village of Algonquin filed a lawsuit Tuesday against the owner of Riverside Square, AMCORE Bank, to force the bank to either bring the downtown project up to code or raze the residential and retail development, Community Development Director Russ Farnum said. Trustees last week set a March 22 deadline for the bank to either complete or demolish the development at the corner of Route 31 and Route 62. Farnum said the bank failed to respond, which led to Tuesday's lawsuit.Lane reductions:Harmony Road over the Jane Addams Expressway in northwestern Kane County will be reduced to one lane in each direction for the next two months or so while damage to the bridge that resulted from a truck crash last week is repaired. A temporary traffic signal will keep delays to a minimum.VFW spaghetti dinner: The Carpentersville Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary to Post 5915 is having a spaghetti dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 27 at the post home, 301 Lake Marian Road. Everyone is welcome. Dinner consists of salad bar, garlic bread, Italian sausage, homemade meat balls and dessert with coffee, tea or milk. Price is $8 per person; children 4-10 eat for half price, those younger eat free. Proceeds go to the American Cancer Society and community projects the auxiliary supports.
