Austin Jarvis belted a 2-run home run to tie the game in the fifth inning and his sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh scored the winning run Monday as Burlington Central opened the baseball season with a 6-5 road win over Crystal Lake Central.

Nick Hahn also had a home run in the game for the Rockets, a 2-run shot in the first inning.

Sam Klein picked up the win in relief, allowing no hits and striking out four in the final 21/3 innings.

Ridgewood 3, Streamwood 1: Streamwood managed just 2 hits on the day in suffering a nonconference loss in its season opener. Mike Diebold suffered the loss for the Sabres.

Conant 5, CL South 4: Mark Hode allowed 4 earned runs on 4 hits and 3 walks and had 5 strikeouts in 4 innings of work as Crystal Lake South fell to Conant in nonconference action.

Johnsburg 9, Hampshire 2: Tyler Crimer and Jared Wienke had RBI for Hampshire in this nonconference loss. Ryan DeChant was the losing pitcher for the Whip-Purs.

Belvidere North 5, Larkin 2: Sophomore Drew Shore suffered the loss as Larkin fell to 0-2-1 on the season with this nonconference loss. Lee Jackson was 2-for-4 with a double for the Royals.
