Schaumburg library seeks student advisors for board
Students ages 15-20 are invited to apply for Student Advisory Trustee (SAT) positions on the Schaumburg Township District Library board of trustees. Those who are accepted as SATs will participate in government by attending board meetings and providing ideas for ways the library can better serve young people.
The term will begin Sept. 1 and end Aug. 1, 2011. SATs will be required to attend library board meetings and occasional programs, then provide written feedback to their board and staff liaisons. In appreciation for their work on the board, SATs will receive a library card free of fines during their term, as well as a gift certificate to the library café.
Young people ages 15-20 with current STDL library cards are invited to apply. Applications will be available at all three library locations, Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates and Hanover Park, in the teen areas beginning April 1. They are due back by June 30. For an e-mail application, write teenservices@stdl.org. Applicants must also attend a board meeting for one hour on either April 19 (at the Hoffman Estates Branch Library), May 17 or June 21 (at the Schaumburg location) and submit their findings and ideas.
