Craft Fair-Flea Market coming soon to Schaumburg library

Bargain hunters and craft fair goers will love the combined Craft Fair-Flea Market coming up Saturday, March 13, at the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg. In fact, it is really a three-in-one, since our basement book sale is taking place the same day. What a great way to shop!

The Craft Fair-Flea Market takes place from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Rasmussen Room on the second floor. Admission is free. There will be numerous tables full of merchandise. Some will be bargain-priced gently used treasures, including (but not limited to) household articles and small appliances, children's toys and clothes, books, videos, DVDs, knickknacks, jewelry, golf clubs, baby items and "like new" stuffed animals, including Easter Bunnies.

Some of the flea market articles will be brand new, in the box or still sporting tags. There will also be craft tables with jewelry, original paintings, soaps and lotions, scarves and candles. These are just a few of the many items for sale. Three things to keep in mind if going to the Craft Fair-Flea Market:

• The price marked is the price you pay

• Cash and checks only will be accepted as we will not have the capability to handle credit cards and

• Children age 10 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Looking for bargain-priced books? Come to the library's basement anytime from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. for books, videos and DVDs. Paperbacks are priced at 50 cents each, and hardcovers at $1. Materials are divided into sections to make shopping a breeze. You'll find a great selection of children's and young adult books, while another area holds fiction and a separate room holds nonfiction. Even vintage books have their own special spot - right at the bottom of the stairway. This is a great way to stock up on books and/or movies for very little money.

What else is coming your way at the library? Come and experience "The Early Days with Juliette Kinzie" from 7:30-9 p.m., Monday, March 15. Betsey Means of WomenLore will portray the wife of famous fur trader John H. Kinzie. Juliete was a writer, historian and pioneer.

On March 24, Mystery Author Erin Hart will discuss mermaid and selkie myths as well as read from her new book, "False Mermaid." She will be accompanied by her husband, Irish musician Paddy O'Brien, who will set feet tapping with jigs and traditional Irish music.
