Chess anyone?
The Mount Prospect Public Library offers a special afternoon of open chess play for all ages and skill levels. You supply the moves, the library will supply the chessboards. Children younger than 9 must be accompanied by a caregiver.

Author Sue Storm, often called "The Angel Lady," discusses her new book "Angel First Aid." Storm will conduct an interactive presentation for guests with visualization exercises to help them connect with their own guardian angels. A book signing follows Storm's presentation.

Flower power
The 2010 Chicago Flower and Garden Show features 25 gardens designed by top gardening and landscape companies along with a vendor marketplace with garden and green products and services from more than 125 exhibitors. 'The Who's Tommy'
Catch the final show of "The Who's Tommy," the hit 1993 Broadway adaptation of the 1969 rock opera album by Pete Townshend. The story follows a British boy once seen as "deaf, dumb and blind" who finds a skill playing pinball.

Comedy Relief 2010
The Schaumburg High School Very Interested Parent (VIP) Club presents Comedy Relief 2010, an evening featuring performances by Chicago-area comedians. Performers include Jimmy McHugh, Bob Jay and James Wesley Jackson. The show is rated PG-16 and is open to those ages 21 and older. Nonalcoholic beverages will be available for purchase before the show.

Dance party
The Chicago-area chapter of USA Dance hosts its monthly dance party, Galway's Wearing of the Green, featuring dancing lessons and social dancing.
