Faustian comedy comes to life at Elgin High School

Dreaming of spring and baseball? Head to Elgin High School this weekend, when the musical comedy "Damn Yankees" hits the stage at the Chester C. Alexander Auditorium.

Based on a novel by Douglas Wallop called "The Year the Yankees Lost the Pennant," "Damn Yankees" relates the adventures of Joe Boyd, a middle-aged baseball fan who makes a deal with the devil to trade his soul for a major league career. He leaves his wife and middle-class existence to chase this dream. However, he soon discovers the tradeoffs he must make in exchange for his new life.

Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and 12:30 and 7 p.m. Saturday at Elgin High School, 1200 Maroon Drive. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students and seniors. Call (847) 888-5100.
