Pasta and Pops Dinner highlights week at Bartlett High

Here is what's in the news for the week of Monday to Friday, Feb. 15-20, at Elgin Area Unit District 46 schools. For details, visit u-46.org. On Monday, all schools and administrative offices will be closed in observance of President's Day.

Bartlett High: On Thursday, the annual Pasta and Pops Dinner will be held at Bartlett High School, 701 Schick Road. Dinner will be served in the cafeteria at 5:30 p.m. followed by a band concert featuring "The Music of Disney." On Friday, Battle of the Bands will take place at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. On Saturday, the Turnabout Dance will be held at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria.

Elgin High: On Thursday, first- to fifth-graders interested in performing at an Elgin High basketball game half-time show, will participate in one of two poms clinics from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Elgin High School commons, 1200 Maroon Drive. The cost is $20 which includes game entrance fees, a T-shirt, mini poms, and the clinics, also being held Thursday, Feb. 25. Larkin High: On Saturday, the Varsity Cheer Squad is hosting a Cheer Clinic for students in first through eighth grades (open to both males and female students) from 1 to 6 p.m. at Larkin High School, 1475 Larkin Ave., Elgin. The cost is $40 and includes the cheerleading instructions, a T-shirt, snack and pizza party. They will then perform at the Larkin boys' basketball game at 6 p.m.

Streamwood High: On Thursday through Saturday, "Godspell" will be presented at 7 p.m. in the Streamwood High School auditorium, 701 W. Schaumburg Road. $8. For advance tickets, call David Hain at (630) 213-5500, ext. 4905.

Eastview: On Wednesday, the Eastview Middle School Band will perform a concert at 7 p.m. at Bartlett High School. Admission is $1 per student, $2 per adult and $6 per family.

Kenyon Woods: On Tuesday, a Mardi Gras Dance will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Kenyon Woods Middle School commons, 1515 Raymond St. Admission is $4; soft drinks will be available for purchase.

Larsen: On Thursday, SWAS students will participate in the Illinois Junior Academy of Science Fair from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The top three projects will move on to the Regional Science Fair at Northern Illinois University.

Tefft: On Friday, a School Dance sponsored by the eighth-grade advisory group, will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Tefft Middle School cafeteria, 1100 Shirley Ave., Streamwood. Proceeds will benefit the eighth-grade cruise in June.

Century Oaks: On Friday, a Parent's Night Out will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Century Oaks Elementary School, 1235 Braeburn, Elgin. A movie will be shown to students while their parents enjoy an evening of shopping booths and vendors with 10 percent of the proceeds going to the school for the purchase of easels and chart paper.

Channing: On Wednesday, Pack-A-Sack Lunch will be held at Channing Elementary School, 63 S. Channing St., Elgin. Parents are invited to eat lunch with their child during their lunch hour.

Fox Meadow: On Friday, the PTO will sponsor a Family Bingo Night from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Fox Meadow Elementary School, 1275 Jenna Drive, South Elgin.

Lincoln: On Friday, the Father/Daughter Dance will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in Lincoln Elementary School gym, 1650 Maureen Drive, Hoffman Estates. Admission is free; the evening will include dancing, snacks, crafts, games and fun.

Sunnyvale: On Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m., the principal will serve soft drinks and milk shakes to customers at Steak 'n Shake at 630 S. Sutton Road, Streamwood. Families can enjoy dinner, a trivia contest, and a guessing game until 9 p.m. Those interested in attending can stop at the school for a Steak 'n Shake voucher to earn the school 10 percent of the purchases at the restaurant that evening.

Washington: On Friday, the PTA will sponsor Family Bingo Night from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Washington Elementary School, 819 W. Chicago St., Elgin.

In other news: "Vision 2010," a juried exhibit featuring the visual art of U-46 high school students, will be on display through March 10 at First Community Bank, 50 Tyler Creek Plaza, Elgin.
