Second Sunday concert to honor Valentine's Day at MCC
McHenry County College will host "Love Me Tender," a valentine concert featuring vocalist Maureen Christine and musician Michael Bazan at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, in the MCC Conference Center. The show is part of MCC's Second Sunday concert series.
The program will include popular songs through the decades from the '40s through the '90s.
Christine, a concert vocalist and national recording artist has performed throughout the country, delighting audiences with her "natural melodious, expressive voice." She has shared the stage with pop star Barry Manilow, and was awarded first place in the nation for the original song she wrote for United Way. In the Chicago area, Christine has headlined at the Palmer House, The Royal George Cabaret Theater, the historic Woodstock and Oshkosh Opera Houses and the Holiday Star Plaza Theater. She also performed with musicians of the Count Basie Big Band. Her television appearances have included singing the national anthem for the Chicago Cubs and Artbeat Chicago.
Bazan showcases his woodwind talents on the flute, clarinet, and tenor and alto saxophones to audiences in the Chicago area.
He has performed with the Rockford Symphony Orchestra, jazz greats Cab Calloway and Billy Eckstine, the Rockford Symphony Orchestra, along with '50s and '60s groups such as the Four Tops, Frankie Valli and The Platters.
Bazan is the director of the McHenry County College Jazz Ensemble and he teaches at Wheaton College Conservatory of Music and at Wredling Middle School in St. Charles.
