Sign up for baseball: The final walk-in registration for Central District Baseball League will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 13 at Burlington Central High School, 44W625 Plato Road. It is open to all children, age 5 to 17 who live within Central Unit District 301's boundaries. Online registration and more information is available at www.cdbaseball.org.Two South Elgin Lions honored:The South Elgin Lions Club recently honored two founding members, Art Stoll and Vern Brunner, for 55 years of service and presented them with their 55-year Chevrons, which are issued in recognition of long periods of membership in Lions International. Stoll recalled that South Elgin only had 1,200 residents when the South Elgin charter was issued in 1954. For details about the Lions, call (847) 888-9575.Help Haiti relief effort:Get geared up for your spring workouts and help the people of Haiti when you shop at a Dick Pond Athletics store on Saturday, Feb. 13, and Sunday, Feb. 14. The stores will donate 10 percent of all sales to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Recovery Fund. Customers will also have the opportunity to make cash contributions and donate used athletic shoes. The running shoe and apparel specialists are at 2164 Randall Road in Carpentersville, as well as locations in Carol Stream, Lisle, Schaumburg and St. Charles.Used cell phones needed: The Central Kane County TRIAD is seeking donations of used cell phones for seniors. Donated phones should be in general working order and have chargers included. They will be made available for seniors to use to call 911 in the event of an emergency. Donations are being accepted in the lobbies of the St. Charles Police Department, 2 State Ave., and the Geneva Township Senior Center, 400 Wheeler Drive. For details, call (630) 232-3602.
