One injury in Crystal Lake school bus accident

A 4-year-old boy suffered minor injuries this afternoon when the school bus in which he was riding collided with a minivan in Crystal Lake.

The boy sustained a minor laceration and was transported to Centegra Hospital-Woodstock by Crystal Lake Fire Rescue ambulance, police said today.

None of their six other students aboard the bus or its driver, David C. Duwe, 69, of Crystal Lake, were injured.

The crash occurred about 12:30 p.m. when the bus crossed into the path of a 2006 Honda Odyssey while attempting to turn left off Ackman Road onto Golf Course, police said. The front side of the minivan, driven by Melissa A. Dabrowski, 38, of Crystal Lake, struck the passenger side of the bus.

Dabrowski and her 1-year-old passenger were not injured.

The bus was transporting children from a preschool program at Glacier Ridge Elementary School. Duwe, of the 1000 block of Butler Drive, was issued a traffic citation for failure to yield while turning left, police said.
